UB40 to Headline Bearded Theory 2014

We are delighted to announce that the 3 founding members of UB40 have
reunited and reformed to perform as headline act on Sunday night at
Bearded Theory 2014. The legendary Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey have
once again come together to perform their hits and bring you the true
sound of UB40. On the way to Global domination UB40 sold more than 120
million albums and recorded 50 hit singles.

They aim to bring reggae music back to their fans as UB40 and close
the festival in style. For more details go to www.UB40.org

We will be making another Main Stage announcement later this month
for the remaining to be confirmed slots.

Bearded Theory is back again for a seventh year and will be hosted
over Spring Bank holiday (May 22nd until 25th 2014). We can’t wait
to show you our new home at Catton Park in South Derbyshire and
delighted to include an extra day in the ticket price. Similar to
Kedleston Hall we will be located in idyllic countryside in the heart
of the National Forest. With that we will be hosting a brand new stage
based in the woods celebrate the move. We are proud to have the title
of Best Small Festival which we won at the 2013 UK Festival Awards and
delighted we won the Festival Kidz Gold Award as well which is
testament to the great work of Angel Gardens.

We are now selling programmes online for £4, a pound cheaper than
buying them at the festival and they will be available for collection
from the merchandise tent next to the Main Stage. If you want to save
a quid head over to www.theticketsellers.co.uk (no booking fees are
applicable on programmes).

2014 will be jam-packed with entertainment across the Main Stage,
Magical Sounds, Tornado Town, Children’s Village, The Lock Inn,
Woodland Stage (we haven’t named it yet) and Secret Rabbit Cabaret.

Our musical offering will be better than ever with old favourites and
new favourites taking to the stages, UB40, Carter USM, Stranglers,
Peter Hook & the Light performing a New Order and Joy Division
classics set, Hayseed Dixie, Pop Will Eat Itself, Oysterband,
Dreadzone, Dub Pistols, Men They Couldn’t Hang, Blockheads,
Fishbone, The Orb sound system, Billy Nasty, Mr C the Shamen, the list
is endless but check out the line up further down the page.

The new campervan field is huge and flat with permanent access roads
allowing for its own totally separate field, the bars will once again
be operated by local award winning brewery Thornbridge from Bakewell ,
the campsites will have more hot serviced showers for free, picnic
areas, tranquil gardens, stunning site art plus a world of fabulous
organic and affordable food concessions. We are so proud of our food
offering we have a restaurant critic coming to review our concessions!

Children’s Village

Happy New Year Beardies!

Angel Gardens have been working super hard already to get the best
family area on the festival scene. We are super blessed and have so
many folks wanting to perform and bring their skills to the space that
you will be utterly and wonderfully shocked by how amazing this year’s
area will be! Our research tells us will be one of the biggest kids
areas this year and will have one of the best programs too!

We are improving a few things this year and really concentrating on
developing the White Rabbit Cabaret tent. We have struck a fabulous
relationship with Herbidacious Tents and they are bringing a fabulous
marquee, stage, lighting and sound system complete with sound
engineer! so no more crackling speakers and rubbish sounds, we will
have the very best and this means more entertainment for you!

We are booking loads of family cabaret performers for you, so we have
our own entertainment as well as organising a few little projects that
will help us stand out from the rest:

Talent Show: the talent show returns on Sunday evening, auditions take
place all weekend.

The Red Paper Clip Project: you will be given a red paper clip and a
card, the idea is to trade your clip for something and then trade that
something for something else and so on… the winner is the person who
in our view trades up to the best thing on site!!!

The Demonstration: Kids will meet on Sunday morning to prepare and
plan for a demonstration, they get to choose their course, maybe later
nights or more chocolate, whatever it is they will create a
demonstration complete with placards and a march around site.

Flash Mob: after last year’s disappointment with sound in the arena,
we will be making sure we take center stage this year, practices will
take place all weekend with the mob taking over the arena on Sunday
afternoon.

Magic Moments: Angel Crew will be choose kids all weekend to give them
a special moment, you need to be around to be chosen. Last year kids
met headliners and had back stage tours!!!

Kids Crew For a Day: information will be sent out soon for kids to
apply for kid’s crew posts. Children selected will be given T-shirts,
lanyards and hiviz’z and allocated a crew member to assist for the
afternoon.

Parties: we will have a themes party every day starting on Friday with
the welcome party in true holiday rep style you will be told what will
be happening over the weekend, following with a Benadorm Disco….
Saturday will be the onsie disco, arrive early for your free make
over, nails, glitter and make up. Finally, sunday offers you a Tinsel
and Turkey night, with a Christmas party complete with Santa and a
countdown to new year, all in one night!

As for workshops we will be running the usual free crafts tent for
kids and families with tons of free activities the whole weekend long.
Other activities will take place around the gardens and in the craft
marquee( we will send the list soon) but with Dance, drama, music,
arts, crafts and more, you will have more than enough to choose
from… there will be at least 100 workshops and activities to choose
from!

Teens will have their own area this year too, supported by
graffitiartists4U we have a new graffiti designed tent for teens, with
chill out area, Dj sets, a pool table and workshops/performances. Look
out for hair styling sessions, beat boxing class and fire workshops.
Graffitiartists4U will be providing workshops and demonstrations too.

As always there will be Angel Guests, some of the most talented crafts
people and activity providers will be joining us to provide you with
more specialised activities for a small change. Look out for felt
making, candy floss spinning and woodland workshops.

Kids Essentials: as always we make things as easy as we can for you
and will provide the usual care facilities for you as families: The
kids cafe serves baby food and kids meal at a small price, the baby
care tent is manned by the National Child Birth Trust and will be open
all day with everything you need to help you cope with a baby and or
course we have the kids only loos and essentials stall.

Look out for more information in the coming weeks and months as we
announce the details of the Scarecrow Competition and this year’s
Oliver Bear Project… so much more to tell you, so watch this space!
